Fling Machine

We had to  make a fling machine that could fling a cotton ball as for as possible.  So we decided to make out design like a slingshot. We made a balloon, rubber band, and straw contraption with a strong base. The balloon catapulted the cotton ball to a wide range of distances depending on the force.  It was a fun experiment and my partner, Diana, and I had a lot of fun.

Multi-view Sketches

These are 2D sketches I drew of a 3D picture.  Due to this change form 2D to 3D, we can onnly get one perspective of view for an object.  There are many different views for an object.

Color Theory and Kaleidoscope

Color Theory

This is a color wheel I mad showing all the 3 Primary, 3 Secondary, and 6 Tertiary colors.

A color scheme is an arrangement or combination of colors, especially as used in interior decoration.

Monochromatic color scheme is all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue.
The analogous color scheme uses colors that are adjacent to each other on the color wheel.
Complementary colors are colors directly opposite each other in the color spectrum.
A triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel.

The split-complementary color scheme is a variation of the complementary color scheme. In addition to the base color, it uses the two colors adjacent to its complement.

Using the color theory we made a kaleidoscope

This was a fun experiment in which we applied the color theory and our craftsmanship to build the kaleidoscope

Final Design Solution Project

Earphones That Will Never Break Or Be Uncomfortable

41+Xs+FECYL._SL500_AA300_.jpg (300×300)
These earphones will never break or be uncomfortable for two main reasons.
One they are covered with steel making it impossible to rip and they have cotton inside to reduce the sound and make it soft and comfortable for your ears.  The price is only $15-$20.

Interviewing a Designer

                                                              Interviewing a Designer

Today we interviewed designer Joshua Jenkins about his life and his designs.  It was a great

experience because we learned about how he became a designer and about his different designs.  He

told us about his new idea of "Goji" icons while texting.  Basically, it is a shortcut to texting because

it already has pre-installed functions that would give a typical text message and the user would't have

to type the text.  I thought it was a great idea and that it will be a big success.

Self as Designer

designer-of-the-year-award.jpg (2001×2001)

                                                                  Self as a Designer
As a new designer, I feel that there is a lot to learn.  I  know that designing is not a just a simple task and takes many steps and time to master.  Over the course of this school year, I intend start learning the basics of designing and in drawing and eventually build successful prototypes of the designs I make.

Improved Headphones

                                                                    Improved Headphones
The Future of Headphones
Headphones currently break too easily.  With this new design, headphones have more outer protection and more stability.  Also, there is a cotton covering to help with sound reduction.

Improvements on Headphones

                                                                       Headphones
Currently, our headphones are too flimsy.  They break too easily, do not give good quality sound, and have too less functions.  To fix the instability problem, we can cover the wire with steel alloy making it impossible to break. The would be a few open areas to be able to fold the headphones.  Also, we could add more desibles to fix the poor sound problem. Finally, for the usage problem, we would add a swipe function on the mic to make it more productive and have better voice recognition on the mic.

Necessity of Lines

                                                                         Lines
Lines are necessary for designing because they are like the basic structure in order to create many things.  Also, lines can also be used to express different emotions and feelings people have. Lines are used all the time and are all around us.  Nothing that exists doesn't have a line in it.

3 Designs That I Would Like To Improve

3 Designs That I Would Like To Improve

There many designs that could be improved in this world.  I am passionate to fix many design like.

 HEADPHONES
One design I would like to improve id the design of headphones.  Currently, the headphones we get are too flimsy and can easily be destroyed.  My design would have better layering outside the headphones and  fix the amount of sound being released so it doesn't hurt your ear.

WATER SYSTEM

Another design I would improve is the water usage system.  Right now, too much water is being wasted without any notice in peoples' homes like in their a showers.  My design would add a sound system in the shower system and people could play one song and the shower would only put as much water as the length of the song.

APP SIZES

Lastly, I would like to improve the design on app size.  The apps today take up too much space on your electronics devices and you don't have enough memory for other activities or apps.  My design would increase the memory on  the electronics but the apps would be more concise, take up less space, and would only download addition information and data if it was really necessary.

All About Me

                                                                         All About Me
These are my ideas and hobbies that I like to do in my free time.                          Creator: Unknown
This was my first project as a designer, to show my interests on paper in an artistic way.  This project helped me learn to not look down on my poor skills as a designer but to cherish my ideas and not care about anything else

The Perfect i-Watch

                                                                    The Perfect I-Watch
This project was to improve on an existing design in the world.  I chose the new Apple i-Watch and improved it by adding already existing Apple features that weren't added in the watch and added some of my own.  All in all, the design I created helped me learn one type of job a designer performs.

Our bridge of paper:

Our bridge of paper
We decided to use paper to create a large bridge.  We created a 84 inch bridge with just one sheet of paper. Teamwork was useful in order to cut and fold the bridge to make it stable.  The idea come to us instantaneously but it took a while to get it right.

We first attempted to make the bridge out of binder paper. We folded the paper and altenated cuts from up and down which was a success because it was stable and supported by clay and withheld the weight of  2 pieces of clay weighing about 66 ounces. The constraints were that the paper couldn’t be fused to the clay and didn’t touch the table.  Also, we could only use 2 pieces of paper, scissors and 4 pieces of clay.

All in all, it was a fun project that made us use our heads like engineers.  We made our project prototype into a success.  If we had more time, we could have doubled the size of the bridge and finished our project.
